My first Sculptris (Zbrush) model. Background image from Wikipedia, composition made using Photoshop.

Detail of tree trunk spider before and after texture applied (in Sculptris).

Model made in Sculptris (Zbrush) using photos from the "Illustrator's Reference Manual: Nudes". Done as an exercise to see how elevation images could be used to craft a model in Sculptris.

Modeled and animated in Maya and textured in Photoshop to import into a Unity game. A walking plant that attacks the player by swinging its bow-like central stalk like a club. Burns nicely.

Magazine spread made in InDesign. Logo and HUD done in Illustrator, robotic hands modeled in Maya. Photos and text taken from Wikipedia.

For this complicated perspective layout I decided in the thumbnail phase to build a rough 3D model in Maya (right) to hand-draw the final piece over (center) so I could make minute changes quicker. As an exercise I tried a speed-paint version in Photoshop (left), which ironically took three times as long.

Hand drawn in ink and marker, text done in InDesign.

Pen and ink, title in Illustrator, body text in InDesign.

Made in Illustrator frame-by-frame, final composition in Animate (Flash). Fan art piece intended for the SCP Foundation website. The idea was to create a looping GIF from various low-effort animation techniques; for instance the forward motion of the car is created by using the same brush definition and moving the start point incrementally in each frame so the the stroke appears to slide along the surface of the car.

Illustrator, black and white line drawing. Based on the photography of Harold Edgerton. Originally done as a greeting card.
